Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu:
Upon your arrival in the Tribhuwan International Airport for the breathtaking adventure ahead, a representative of Nepal Mountain Trekkers shall be there to welcome you. You will be then taken to your respective hotel and into your room so that you can relax your jet lagged body. As tomorrow you get to go for a sightseeing tour of the Kathmandu valley, you will need to take some time to rest. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation:
A day dedicated to the exploration of the ancient and medieval capital city of Kathmandu, we shall explore the heritages listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Site List combining the Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage sites as well as other historical sites and heritages. The Kathmandu Durbar Square is one of the three royal complexes in the Kathmandu valley with historical royal palaces and other sacred heritages. Pashupatinath Temple is a sacred Hindu Temple dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva with several other temples and cultural practices located at the bank of holy Bagmati River. We shall also explore the Buddhist pilgrimage of Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as Monkey Temple due to the habitation of holy monkeys to the north-west area of the temple, and Boudhanath Stupa which is one of the largest and oldest stupas in the world. After exploring these heritages we shall have a pre-trip meeting in the afternoon with the trekking guide in hotel. Day 03: Kathmandu to Bhalche (1850m/6105ft):6-7 hrs:
Taking a local bus early in the morning or a private four wheel drive journey from Kathmandu we reach Bhalche after driving approximately 7 hrs. This is also the gateway to the Langtang Valley at the confluence of the Bhote Koshi and Langtang Rivers. Mesmerizing scenic driving and passing through Trishuli Bazaar and Betrawati makes you scenic driving. There shall be narrow and bit adventurous zigzag roads but with amazing landscape along the way driving. You will even be able to start your trek on the same day but due to bit rough and tough driving spending a night in Bhalche will give you an excellent acclimatization day. Stay overnight at Bhalche.
Day 04: Bhalche to Gonaga (Lunch) to Rupchet (3250m/10725ft):6 hrs:
After breakfast, we trek a bit uphill and have a breath taking views on the back of Bhalche village. Our trail continues passing thorough high tropical jungle and thrilling jungle views as well as surrounding landscape. We arrive in Thulo Kharka and stop for lunch. Then after lunch the trek continues to Rupchet where you will find beautiful camp site and yak hut. It has amazing hillside peripheral views. Stay overnight at Rupchet.
Day 05: Rupchet via Singla Pass (4220m/13845 ft) to Pangsang Pass (3842m/12640ft):6-7 hrs:
After breakfast, we move all the way to a hill top near Singla Pass with a near perfect 270 degree panoramic mountain views of Langtang ranges, massif Ganesh Himal ranges, Mt. Manaslu ranges and also a little bit of Annapurna ranges. We have to walk through dense jungle for 5-6 hours and then we shall finally reach at Pangsang Pass. Dry foods or fruits will be very helpful if you have packed them with you. Then we shall have lunch. Today is really an adventure as we walk through scenery of many flora and fauna but without local guide or your expert guide who has been through this route; it’s not possible as there is a huge chance for a traveler to lose the way while they are trekking through this mystical landscape. Stay overnight at Pangsang.
Day 06: Pang Sang Pass to Tipling (lunch) to Chalish (1674m/5505ft):5-6 hrs:
Now today we shall descend to Tipling, a large village that hosts two Buddhist gombas and both a Protestant and Catholic church. Along a ridge top to the east is a gomba and cremation ground for both Buddhists and Christians lined with colorful flags. Being majorly populated with Tamang people it has beautiful Tamang culture show as well. We descend to cross the Adha Khola on a box bridge and ascend to the sister villages of Shertung and Chalish, regally overlooking the fertile river valley and abundant fields. Chalish is inhabited primarily by Gurung, Ghale and Kami. There used to be Newar people but they have migrated to Kathmandu city. The hospitable people of this area have unique customs and craftsmanship and traditional dances, including a hospitable welcome dance, Ghatu Dance, Dohori is also popular with call and response between male and female participants, a type of courtship ritual, complemented by folk music. Some dances depend on the time of year and take place during festivals including the Maruni Dance during Dashai and Tihar, Hai Nelo Dance of Tihar, and the Ghatu (Ghasiri Dance) that occurs during Chandi Purnima in the Nepali month of Chaitra. Gurung men traditionally wear vangra, a woven, embroidered cotton cloth tied at the ends that serves as a pouch for carrying goods. Sri Tinkanya Devi Mandir lies above Chalish. Local women tie bits of cloth or leave a bangle representing a wish to be fulfilled near a small pool of water surrounded by Barmase or periwinkle flowers. In the evening mother group of Chalish Gaon will welcome you for a typical Gurung Dance Program and Cultural Show. Stay overnight at Chalish.
Day 07: Chalish to Hindung (Gomba Danda) (2402m/7900ft):4-5 hrs:
After breakfast, we say goodbye to locals and take down trail to Khar Khola and then gently up to Pasabar danda taking about an hour of walking. View of Tribeni river (mixed of three rivers and Hindus and both Buddhist believe as a holy river site) just down the valley where Lord Shiva’s statue with little one stoned shrine has been built. Specially, in Makarsankranti festival local gather and celebrate by singing, dancing and meeting friends and relatives as well as neighboring villages. From Pasabar danda we trek gently up the hill and reach at Kalbarang, from here the trek continues with a hill edge walk through dense jungle (there is a chance of rock falling from top of the hill due to dwelling of wildlife so be careful as walking with your trek guide or helper is highly recommended) and finally we reach at Hingdung village where huge number of Tamang people live. It is a Tamang village of around 550 residents. Crystals and rubies are harvested in areas to the north and Yarsagumba is hunted, too, in the surrounding highlands. Stay overnight at Hindung.
Day 08: Gomba Danda to Thulo Dhunga (3337m/10975ft):4-5 hrs:
From Gomba, the trek continues steeply with occasional views of the snow peaks. We pass through beautiful grazing areas and eventually we drop into an immense green meadow with stunning views of Ganesh Himal ranges with surrounding landscape. The trail then continues steeply with occasional jaw-dropping views of the snowy peaks. Stay overnight at Thulo Dhunga.
Day 09: Thulo Dhunga to Base Camp (Nojet Kharka) (3691m/12140ft):6 hrs:
Today our trail continues steeply with occasional jaw-dropping views of the snowy peaks. We shall continue through seasonal grazing areas to eventually dropping into an immense green meadow and splendid camp site known as Nojet Kharka. Stay overnight at Nojet Kharka.
Day 10: Exploration Day/viewpoint:
We shall explore this whole place for amazing and stunning views. A climb to the ridge to the northeast, Dobra Danda, is rewarded with a supreme viewpoint of towering Ganesh Himal. The heart-touchy sight is unforgettable. Two small lakes shimmer below at the foot of the Himalaya. Kalo Kunda (black lake) has waters that mirror the overwhelming surroundings and the smaller Seto Kunda (white lake) has a seasonal pasture nearby. These lakes are said to have mystical powers that will bless visitors but anybody who misbehaves will be punished with poor weather and difficult travels. Stay overnight at Nojet Kharka.
Day 11: Nojet Kharka to Kharka (3900m/12870ft):5 hrs:
We take breakfast and walk down the way to cross a river with no bridge which is difficult to cross in summer so you should have a big team of group. We reach on the top of Kharka in 3 ½ hours where there aren’t any tea house and villages but it is possible to camp here. It is an isolated camp site from where you will see Ganesh Himal (Yangri 7245m) almost in 3 km distance. Nice, cool/cold, quiet and amazing jungle camp right on the hill top but you may encounter with wild life so group trek or experienced trek guide and crew members are recommended. Stay overnight at Kharka.
Day 12: Kharka to Ganesh Kunda to Ruby area (3500m/11550ft): 5-6 hrs:
Take breakfast and then visit Ganesh Himal Base camp (try) and then trek continue to Ganesh Kunda which is another holy and secret lake of this area where in September hundred of Jhakri (shamans) get together in which even locals participate and celebrate. Ruby mines available in this area and precious herbs are available here. Stay overnight at Ruby area.
Day 13: Ganesh Kunda to Tatopani (Hot Spring) (1250m/4125ft):5-6 hrs:
Now we trek all the way down to Newar Gaon, resting a bit, we enjoy looking around the village sites, take lunch and then continue trekking with walk alongside a river bank and through dense jungle by which we finally arrive in Tatopani (hot water-spring). There we shall enjoy taking fantastic hot bath. It has a bathing pool and 3 taps. Relax and rejuvenate the body, mind and spirit. Rest of the day; enjoy river bank camp in cool air. Stay overnight at Tatopani.
Day 14: Tatopani (Hot Spring) to Lapa Gaon (1850m/6105ft):5-6 hrs:
Our trail follows stone steps built by active organizations Kadoorie Agri aid association and British Gurkhas of Nepal. Here the beautiful Rachyat and Kapur villages wait to welcome us. After lunch, we move for Lapa Gaon but before that we have to cross box suspension bridge and after that we finally arrive in Lapa Gaon which has majority of Tamang people. Lodges are in process of building for comfort of upcoming tourist but it has two basic lodges already built. Stay overnight at Lapa Gaon.
Day 15: Lapa Gaon to Magne Goth Pass (2950m/9735ft): 4 hrs:
We wake up with the view of sunrise hovering over the hills. Today we shall head towards Magne Goth, as it’s our final destination for the day. As we walk steeply up the hill to the west in a tall, blue pine forest with rambling rhododendron is Magne Goth, and nearby is a large boulder, location of ruby extraction. Stay overnight at Magne Goth.
Day 16: Magne Goth to Tinsure (1850m/6105ft): 5-6 hrs:
Today after having our breakfast we start our trek to Tinsure danda passing through beautiful alpine jungle, rhododendron forest and dense mix jungle. It’s a beautiful scenic walk with no human habitat. After walking for about 5-6 hours you arrive at Tinsure danda which is also known as the queen of hills for the tremendous mountain views. And there we shall camp with the view point. Stay overnight at Tinsure.
Day 17: Tinsure to Ganga Jamuna to Baseri (1400m/4593ft):5-6 hrs:
We walk to Ganga Jamuna from Tinsure through another amazing landscape walk. Ganga Jamuna is the name of twin goddess sisters, it is believed that your wishes will be fulfilled if you visit and ask for it in the temple. Thousands of both Hindus and Buddhist pilgrimages visit this place in special occasion but mostly during Janai Purnima and Makar Sakranti festival it will have uncountable number of devotees visiting here. After visiting Ganga Jamuna temple, we then head up to Baseri. Stay overnight at Baseri.
Day 18: Rest at Baseri:
We shall rest today. A rest day in Baseri allows you to witness amazing views of big rocks within Baseri and you also have the golden opportunity to enjoy the typical culture of that place while over there. And if you walk for about 4-5 hrs, you might even see the historical ground. Dry food for shall be served to us for our lunch today. Stay overnight at Baseri.
Day 19: Baseri to Gorkha (1143m.): 2 hr walk and 6-7 hrs drive :
So as we come near to the end of our trek we shall now head onwards to Gorkha today as our final destination from Baseri. Gorkha is a very famous historical place and has played a major role in contemplating Nepal’s history as the great founder of modern Nepal Prithivi Narayan Shah, was set here. There are interesting places to visit like the Gorkha Kali temple and Gorkha Palace square. Stay overnight at Gorkha.
Day 20: Gorkha Durbar Sightseeing:
Today we shall do some sightseeing around the historical city of Gorkha, from where the unification of Nepal, from several small states to a unified nation, was started by King Prithivi Narayan Shah. The highlight of today’s excursion in Gorkha is the historical Gorkha Palace, which also served as a fort for the kingdom. We shall observe the ancient heritages preserved in the palace, try to get idea on its construction especially the site chosen for building the palace is interesting. We shall also visit the famous Gorakhkali Temple, a sacred pilgrimage in Gorkha which served traditionally as the guardian of the kingdom and source of divine blessings for the King of Gorkha. After exploring this historical city, we shall return back to the hotel. Stay overnight at Gorkha.
Day 21: Drive from Gorkha to Kathmandu by bus:
Today we get at the end of our journey so we shall return to Kathmandu after a wonderful trek full of rich culture and natural experience. The bus journey to Kathmandu takes us through rural settlements along the road and natural scenery. We take rest at the hotel and explore the streets of Thamel and other areas if possible for some souvenir shopping. Cherish the memories created during the trek and enjoy the cuisine and hospitality of the hotel. Stay overnight at Kathmandu.
Day 22: Farewell Day:
We are to the end of this journey that has taken us to the lap of the Himalayas and provided us the opportunity to get up close and personal with the Himalayas without being on strenuous altitudes. You will be accompanied by a representative of Nepal Mountain Trekkers Nepal as you are transferred to the Tribhuwan International Airport for your scheduled flight to the onward destination at least three hours prior to the scheduled time.
