Trip introduction

Langtang Gosaikunda Lauribina Pass Trek provides us with a great chance to trek through beautiful forested lands, valleys, numerous lakes or kundas, and culturally rich settlements; with panoramic views of the snow-capped Himalayas including Langtang and Manaslu Himalayan range from close proximity. The major attraction of this trek would be walking on snow and at Kyangin Ri, visiting the holy Gosaikunda Lake. And several other lakes as well as passing through Lauribina pass at an altitude of 4,610 meters. Whereas, exploring the culture of the local inhabitants is also an important aspect of this trekking.

Overview of Langtang Gosaikunda Lauribina Pass Trek

We begin our Langtang Gosaikunda Lauribina Pass Trek as we drive from the culturally affluent Kathmandu Valley. Heading towards the countryside small town of Syabrubesi via Betrawati and Dhunche. Initially, we start trekking towards Kyangin Gumpa and Kyangin Ri through beautiful forested lands, and valleys while playing hide and seek with nearby snow-capped mountains. On our trails, we discover Tamang and Sherpa cultural traditions. As we arrive at Kyangin Ri, we will feel blessed with never seen panoramic views of peaks like Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, Ganesh Himal, etc; a truly heavenly experience. Then we follow the same route through Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru. And head east toward the pilgrimage site of Gosaikunda.

There are many other small lakes namely Saraswatikunda, Bhairav Kunda, and others nearby. It is believed that Lord Shiva himself built Gosaikunda with his trident to get relief from that poison; that he put it into his throat to save the world from its severe consequences. Then we pass through Lauribina pass, Ghopte, Melamchi Gaon, Tarkeghyang, Seramanthang, and Melamchi pul bazaar for the next couple of days before driving back towards Kathmandu.

Langtang Valley Trek– Incredible experience!

This is the third trek I’ve done with Nepal Mountain Trekkers and it was absolutely incredible, as always. Everyone at the trekking company is organized, friendly, and professional. Suman organized the trip for me and was my guide. He’s the absolute best. Not only did he figure out how we could do a 7 day trek in 4 days, he also was great company during the trek! He’s so knowledgeable about all of the treks and mountains in Nepal. He’s easy going and fun to be around!

Langtang Valley Trek – So good!

I went on a trek with my parents, who are over 60, to the Langtang Valley. We were taken with our guide and hotel owner and now friend, Ramesh, who was amazing in organising it and catering it to our needs. It was a stunning time, and the friends we made were an absolute highlight – including our two porters, Amar and Pralad, who were just the best guys to be spending this time with. I highly recommend going on a trek with these guys, it’s so well organised, and Ramesh can cater for whatever your needs are – in our case, the distance we were travelling each day was a bit too much for my parents, and our days were shortened accordingly, and Ramesh was happy to do so. He certainly made me feel like one of the boys, enjoying some chang rice beer with local families once we’d reached the highest point of the trek, which I might add is so worth the trek. It is a stunning place, nestled in between the snowy mountains, with options to do some day walks from there to some of the peaks – which I highly recommend! There was a lot of laughs along the way – it was actually turned into just a hilarious and fulfilling time because of our guide and porters, and I wouldn’t hesitate to go with them again!

Fascinating 9 day trek – Langtang Valley region north of Kathmandu, near Tibetan border

Just completed this somewhat challenging trek as a first-time trekker at age 61! Wanted to explore the Langtang region with my husband and adult son – supported by Ramesh, the owner of the trekking company and 2 porters who became our very good friends, managed it without too many hiccups.
It does not reach areas as high as some of the better known treks but as parts of this region were decimated by the 2015 earthquake, the pathways have been rebuilt with many stone steps which are also thoroughfares for ponies and donkeys carrying building and food supplies to the higher regions so the steps get knocked around a bit making for some challenging walking. A fascinating area with culture heavily influenced by the Tibetan immigrants over several centuries.
The care and concern shown by Ramesh and his team are phenomenal, starting with the planning which begins weeks before with applications for trekking permits etc taken care of. He equips us with all the gear we might possibly need. Being February it has the potential to snow (and does).
In a 4WD vehicle to our kick-off point, Ramesh ensures we by-pass traffic jams and the town accommodation is great. Once trekking commences he patiently guides us at our own pace, and ensures the nighttime accommodation in tea-houses is comfortable and meals are good. He closely monitors the health of his charges – when I get a bad headache at the highest altitude, I don’t realise till afterwards how closely he is observing me for signs of altitude sickness; were I to show any symptoms he would insist we went back down to a lower tea-house.
Ramesh and the porters are fun to be with – we have lots of laughs and lots of interesting discussions about local history and culture and they are interested to hear about Australia.
The trek is geared around our capabilities – it is flexible – can be lengthened or shortened to suit.
Ramesh has many other trekking routes – all over Nepal – varying from a few days to months. I fancy the month-long ‘Rhododendron Kingdom’ trek next – a mixture of teahouses and camping – camping is the real way to do trekking he tells me!

Langtang, Gosaikund, Helambu

It was already my another trek organized by Nepal Mountain Trekkers.
Since arriving in Kathmandu we felt well taken care of, we had a shuttle service to the hotel. We stayed at Horizon Hotel, quiet and beautiful place for Thamel. When we sightseeing Kathmandu, everything was prepared to trek (permits, transport etc).

This time our guide was Shiva who is profesional guide with a wealth of local knowledge. We could “only” enjoy our trip as we were sure that everything was well organized.
I would definitely recommend Nepal Mountain Trekkers with frendly pofessional owner Ramesh Dhakal and wonderful guide Shiva and Daljit.

Thank you so much Ramesh, Shiva, Daljit, Devaraj, Dhane, Sudip, Arjun. Hope to see you again … soon 🙂

In november 2015 we met Mr. Ramesh Dhakal and our guide Daljit at the Horizon Hotel in Thamel Kathmandu. They are very friendly persons, like friends and we went on tour with Daljit and my husband, so we were three of us. We were 3 weeks on tour and had a great time with our guide. The lodges and whole trip was very good organized and with Daljit we had the advantage to learn a lot about Nepal and the Nepali’s. We went in the houses, enjoyed family life and he showed us the most beautiful spots. We can recommend this organisation 110%. Enjoy!
