Trip introduction

Mardi Himal along with Mohare Danda Trek is one of the most popular treks in the spring season. The 17-day journey includes the magnificent Khopra Ridge and, by extension, the beautiful Mohare Hill, and the Mardi Himal Trek.

The panoramic view of the mountain adds to the attractiveness of this hike. The trail offers views of the mountains Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and Mt. Fishtail. Alongside the sunrise and sunset view of Poonhill, Muldai Hill and Badal Danda are some of the main attractions. You will witness the rough trails, which will accompany the beautiful terrains, livestock, flora, and fauna.

Short description: Mardi Himal with Mohare Danda Trek

The trek is significantly easier and of moderate difficulty because the altitude is not that high. The highest point of Mohare Danda is (3313m/10869 ft) and the Mardi Himal Base Camp is (4500m/14764 ft) above sea level. Our tour will begin in Pokhara, from which you will begin your walk to Mardi Himal Base Camp via the Deurali, Forest Camp, and Badal Danda routes. From The Mardi Himal Trek, we head towards Mohare Danda; Landruk- Chummrung- Tadapani- Munde View point-Swatha- Mohare Danda.

Mohare Danda adjoining the Mardi Himal trails covers the popular Annapurna Region. This trek best fits travelers who want to avoid a huge crowd. A little prior trekking experience will be sufficient to complete this excursion. The primary goal of this expedition is sustainability, which will progressively improve the neighborhood.

Detail Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu:

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, a representative from our company will pick you up from (Tribhuvan International Airport). Thereafter, transfer to the hotel of your preference on a private vehicle, where you will be welcomed with a marigold garland.

Overnight at the hotel with some light refreshments.

 

Day 2 : Drive to Pokhara and sightseeing :

Early in the morning, have breakfast at the hotel, and then decide whether to drive or take a flight to Pokhara. Usually traveling by vehicle will cover 200km taking 6-7 hrs depending on the traffic condition. The time you save by flying will allow you to spend more time discovering Pokhara.

Upon arriving in Pokhara, you have the option of exploring well-known sites like Bindhyabasini Temple, Davis Fall, and the World Peace Pagoda or taking a leisurely boat ride on Phewa or Begnas Lake.

Day 3 : Drive to Kande-Hike to Deurali via Australian Camp (1950m/6398ft) 4 hours :

After breakfast, one hour drive to Kande (the trekking starting point). Trek to Deurali Via Australian Camp. A tiring 3-4 hrs hike will leave us starving. So, we will have our lunch at Australian Camp with the beautiful panoramic view of the mountains.

Day 4 : Deurali to Forest Camp (2550m/8366 ft) 4-5 hours :

As we begin our hike along the side trip to the Annapurnas, we take a detour to the east, passing via the community of Pritam Deurali. As we make our way to today’s destination, we can enjoy a charming route on our own. Before we arrive at the location of our overnight stop, we will march along the trail for a few hours, experiencing various ascents and descents. We will go through stunning forests that are mostly made up of pine trees, as well as other vegetation like the lovely rhododendrons and sightings of leopards, deer, and monkeys, along with many bird species. Today’s destination, Forest Camp, is also known to the locals as Kokar. We will see some beautiful sights.

Day 5 : Forest Camp to Badal Danda (3289m/10790 ft) 6 hours :

After early morning breakfast, we will head to Badal Danda which will roughly take us 5-6 hrs. En route to Badal Danda, we will take a short break and have our lunch at Lower Camp. The light energy boost will help us on our way to Badal Danda. Some light refreshments will be done.

Day 6 : Badal Danda to High Camp (3900m/12795 ft) 2 hours :

As we had done the strenuous long-hour trek the day before. On this day, we will only undertake a short 2-hour hike that will get us to High Camp. Another slower and short trek today as we need ample time for our bodies to adjust to the increasing altitude in the trail. Further along the ridges, through the occasionally grassy landscape leading towards the Mardi Himal, we march into the alpine vegetation from the tree line. We left the Manjhi Danda near the Low Camp and we moved past the Nangge Danda before we reached the High Camp.

Day 7 : High Camp to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4500m/14763 ft) 6 hours back to Badal Danda :

A long, big, challenging yet beautiful day has a lot to offer today to us. We shall start earlier today to view the Sunrise from High Camp. Along the narrow and rocky trail, more difficult as compared to the earlier trekking days, we shall have a slow and gradual trek to the Base Camp. After a couple of hours’ steep trek, we reach the top of a ridge marked as the MBC (Mardi Himal Base Camp), however, the real Base Camp is another couple of hours away.  After achieving the feat of witnessing the view and living the moment we descend to the High Camp to be welcomed by the steaming mug, hot food, and shelter.

Day 8 : Badal Danda to Landruk (1565m/5134 ft) 7 hours :

We will be heading downhill from Badal Danda to Landruk. The beautiful pathways will ease your trek, and the beauty of the Rhododendron forest adds beauty to this trail. We will have lunch at Forest Camp. The hospitable Gurung community will serve you the best authentic dinner at night, along with its cultural program.

Day 9 : Landruk to Chomrong (2170m/7119 ft) 6 hours :

This day we’ll hike the same distance, as the day before and reach the beautiful Chomrong village. Leaving the beautiful Landruk village behind we pass the suspension bridge, ascend steep pathways, and beautiful waterfall. We pause for lunch here as we pass through the Jhinu Danda. And we travel 15 minutes down the river if you want to visit a hot water spring. After a refreshing break, we head to Chomrong.

Day 10 : Chomrong to Tadapani (2630m/ 8628 ft) 6 hours :

After breakfast, we head our destination to Tadapani. The pathways are normal and there are small bushy forests up to Kimrung Khola. You will have to cross many suspension bridges. From Kimrung Khola bridge climb uphill to Chuile, where we will have a lunch break. The Rhododendron trees along the way to Tadapani will take your breath away.

Day 11 : Tadapani to Dobato Munde View (3400m) (6 hrs.) – Muldai View Point (3600m) :

Early morning we will head our way to Dobato View Point. Crossing the beautiful pine forest, we can see the Annapurna South, Fishtail, and Dhaulagiri ranges as well. We will have a short lunch break at Isharu and hike again at Muldai viewpoint. Upon reaching on Muldai viewpoint you can see the picturesque 360-degree view of the beautiful snow-capped mountain. Since there is no accommodation facility up here we head back down to Dobato and have the rest of the night stay there.

Day 12 : Early morning 6 a.m sunrise view back to hotel and breakfast. Heading to Swatha(2512m) (6.30 hrs):

Early morning we wake up early again to see the beautiful sunrise of the Muldai View Point. After clicking beautiful pictures and having a  wonderful time we head back again to the hotel to have breakfast. Gaining some energy after the light breakfast we march towards our next destination i.e. Swatha. After crossing the strenuous pathways we stop for lunch at Fulbari. Our final stop o the day will be Swatha.

Day 13 : Swatha to Mohare Danda (3313m/ 10826ft) 5 hours :

A small amount of hiking will reach us to our desired destination, Mohare Danda. Along the way, you will see the panoramic view of the Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, and Fishtail.

Day 14 : Mohare Danda to Ulleri (2070m/ 6791 ft):

After having a beautiful stay at the Mohare Danda we will walk downward to Ulleri.

Day 15 : Ulleri to Pokhara :

You’re almost at the end of the trek. The walking must not be done but the bus travel is still a long way. We take a private jeep from Ulleri to Pokhara which will approximately take 2.5 hours. Upon reaching Pokhara you can have leisurely time on your own do a small stroll in the streets of Pokhara or sit by the lakeside and have some light evening snacks.

Day 16 : Drive to Kathmandu and leisure day:

After a pleasant stay in Pokhara, you will be heading back to Kathmandu. You can stroll around Thamel to buy souvenirs for your loved ones.

Day 17 : Departure Day :

This marks the official end of the short yet enriching trek to one of the most popular trekking destinations in the world. You shall be transferred to the Tribhuvan International Airport at least three hours prior to the flight scheduled for your onward destination.
